Rhetoric & Sterotypes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words
Rhetoric & Sterotypes - Essay Example1996). However, it seems that stereotypes have conk out woven into the human mind because no librate how insignificant, everyone has stereotypes formed about someone. In particular, the stereotypes of politicians, people with tattoos, feminist, and senior citizens are worth discussing. Politicians help run our legislative system. They are elected by the general mankind to patch up their interest in the government on both the local and federal levels. Sometimes we elect representatives that represent our interest, while other times they represent the highest bidder. I have grown up hearing that politicians are corrupt and greasy the power ends up corrupting their purpose. This can be seen with all the lobbying and finicky interest groups that now play a role in our representative democracy. When talking about politicians, stereotypes usually reflect a negative outlook with conversations mostly talking about political corruption and shady deal ings with corporate owners for tax breaks. Tattoos are a form of body art that have foundations crossways most of the cultures of the world. The art of tattooing has been around since ancient times. Some of the common stereotypes held about people who have tattoos are being unsuccessful in school, coming from furrowed homes, having an unhappy childhood, rarely attending church, having poor decision making skills, usually obtaining further body modification while inebriated and being an easy victim of peer pressure (Martin & Dula 2010). Many people have learned to associate tattoos with destroying your body. Due to the conflicting nature of tattoos, a generalized consensus would be hard to get due not only to the popularity of tattoos, but their glorified nature in Hollywood as well as on television. The Feminist Movement focuses on the gender inequalities that exist in society and promotes womens rights in every aspect of life. Radical feminism has lead to feminist having a nega tive visual aspect especially when talking about men. People imagine a stereotypical image of an angry, man-hating, unattractive woman with hairy armpits screaming irrationally about imagined insults (Gladen, 2008). The biggest subdivision of the stereotype is male bashing and women supremacy. What started as a genuine movement for gender equality developed into a movement in which radical women wanting to become superior to men and have them feel the way women have been treated for ages. Gerontology is a specific study in psychology which deals with the aging action of the old. Across the world, there are many different views about the role of the elderly in society. In the western hemisphere, it is a common practice for the takings to put their elderly parents in a nursing home once they are unable to care for themselves. In some eastern cultures, it is customary for the elderly to live with the parents throughout their lives. Elderly people are often viewed as inefficient in society due to the lack of mobility and self reliance from biologic and psychological aging. This negative stereotype about being a burden on their families often leads to depression and other psychological illnesses in the elderly which could last lead to suicide. There is some truth to all of the stereotypes. Stereotypes are ways for us to self associate/disassociate from people that are similar/different. equivalent all things in society, some stereotypes will hold true, even with some people conforming to that

The inorganic theory of the origin of oil states that oil deposits were fo rmed during the creation of the planets or during the formation of the solar system (Van Dyke 14). This theory explains why petroleum from a large deposit are similar level off though the rocks where they were found were different in structure. For example, transporting systems, power supply, military operation and telecommunication systems etc are relying heavily on computers and internet for its flake jobs and functions at present. Any problems occurred in the functionality of computers and internet squirt affect these areas negatively and cause immense damages to public life. This paper analyses the terrorism threats faced by Australia in general and cyber threats in particular. It is not necessary that cyber attacks may create animal(prenominal) ham alone to Australia. In fact cyber attacks can be employ to defame a country the like Australi a in front of others. The most common form of hacktivism is the defacing of sack up pages to carry a message to the audience of that web site. The site shown in Figure below an Australian business defaced to accuse Australia of being a terrorist country, is a recent example of hacktivism as well as illustrating the tensions of the fight on terror being transferred to the electronic realm (Ellsmore, p.5) The above webpage is a clear example of how the cyber attacks happening against Australia. Australia is a strong supporter of war on terror which is going on in Iraq and Afghanistan. Terrorists target all the countries which support war on terror in some way. Since most of the countries like Australia have strengthened the security measures against a physical or direct terrorist attack terrorists now adopting channels of indirect attack. Cyber attacks give them the luxury of attacking their targets from a distance and the chances of arrest or punishment are extremely rare. Eviden ce exists to suggest that al-Qaeda have also been using the Internet to collect & collate selective information nigh potential critical infrastructure targets (Ellsmore, p.6). Internet is an ocean of information. It is not necessary to visit a place to collect information about it. All the details about all the places in the world are available on internet at present. It is easy for terrorist groups to collect and analyze this information before planning an attack on a particular target. The electronic information can be used for cyber attacks or even for physical attacks. jibe to the CERT Co-ordination Centre, the number of reported computer security incidents increased from 9,859 in 1999 to 52,658 in 2001, and we are on track for almost 100,000 in 2023. Similarly, the 2002 Australian Computer hatred and Security Survey found that 67% of respondents suffered a security incident, twice the level of 1994 (Ellsmore, p.8). The above statistics are clear indications of growing threa ts faced by Australia from cyber terrorism. Cyber attacks can affect the productivity of organizations and employment losses to the employees. In other words, cyber attacks can destroy affect the financial systems more than the lives of the people. The expenses needed to conduct a cyber attack are extremely cheaper compared to the expenses needed for a physical attack. At the same time cyber attacks can cause more damages to the target than a physical attack. Moreover, the publicity generated by cyber attacks may create panic and disgust among the people. The above facts motivate terrorist in selecting cyber medium for their future channel of attack.

We become educated so we can go more cheering lives and be productive members to our society. We as people today attain our education in umpteen ways. We go to tutor through our entire lives but that is non the only education we need in life. That is unless being book smart, while that is important to help place you in your c areer theyre many other things to become educated on in life. To have survival skills or social skills, to learn respect for others or for yourself is all retained from parents or yourself. We learn to speak the proper way by our checkers at school and we learn how to write with correct grammar from going to school, but I believe our parents teach us the right time to say those words we learned. There are 5 types of schools and 3 types of learning.Public school which is the most popular schooling consort to Jennings, he stated that in 2009, 90% of the population was attending public school while the other 10% were attending private. Home school where you remain at home and learn by either your parents or another teacher qualified to teach the material to you. You also learn how to use your muscular and mechanical skills which are psychomotor skills. Gender, race, and your ethnicity I believe used to have a bigger impact on education than it does today. It still does effect education by the way parents will teach certain morals to their kids, what kids will believe since we all have assorted religious beliefs and everything.Withgender, girls used to have a lot less power to men, what men said went and today that has changed. I palpate we have created more represent rights throughout life with education. Before different races couldnt even attend the same school and we see that in our everyday life now. I feel that these things do have effect o n education but not in all the serious ways it used to more in just the ethnicity of people and what they believe and how they will go about their lives with their morals they have received from themselves or their parents.

Campbellââ¬â¢s Life Essay Example for Free
Campbells Life EssayBorn on April 13, 1933, Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell is unmatchable of the few politicians of cross discover who rose in the political circles carrying proudly his Indian ancestry. He is proud of his Native American heritage. His sense of pride and loyalty to his roots and to his culture was seen by means of his actions as well as through his clothing it was as if he was wearing his culture, identity and heritage. For example, he was seen wearing ceremonial tribal clothing as he attended the opening of the National Museum of American Indian (NMAI) . It was considered as a major aspect that has created, established and sustained the over each persona that is Senator Campbell all throughout his life, especially during his political life . Campbells character of hinging so much of who he is as he presents himself to the public on his being a Native American Indian was just enough for people to forget that there were actually men who preceded Campbell who, just like him, were partly Native American Indian and also won elected public authorization. One of them served in an office even higher than Campbells and that would be Charles Curtis, who would eventually become the starting line vice president of the United States who is a Native American Indian. The highest elected office ever held by an Indian in the US was the vice brass . Unlike Campbell, Curtis was from the Kaw tribe hailing from Kansas. In his vein was quarter of blood from this tribe. Also, he was an attorney before getting elected, unlike the more blue-collar type of jobs that Campbell move early in his life before shifting to jewellery designing and production later on.Nonetheless, both elected men are good and in force(p) men who made the Native American Indian community proud. But even with men like Curtis and how they were bigger men politically, the Indians appreciate Campbells efforts at staying with his packaging as the American Indian holding office at the senate and at the congress. This personality/attitude more than compensates for the fact that he was not the scratch line of his kind. Although not the first Native American senator, he is the first to make a statement with his Indianness. Indeed, he, too, was a record maker of sorts, and in many shipway. This is what the reputation will explore throughout the discussion on the different aspects of personal and political life of Senator Campbell, who, in November 3, 1992 made a historic feat by becoming the first American politician with Native American roots to be elected as a senator. It was something that hasnt happened in more than the six decades that has passed in the senate history prior to his election to the office.Prior to that, he became the sixth politician with Native American heritage and ancestry to be ever elected to the congress, a seat that was given to him through the votes of the public for three sequences . Senator Campbells Indian heritage is no secret. In fact, it seems that it is one of his many major personal characteristics that the media, as well as his colleagues, often refer to or address, particularly his being Indian, and his respectful stature in the Indian community, like being a Yankee Cheyenne Tribe chief, a position he and only 43 others possess .Because of Campbells pride towards his heritage, his people in return are doing ways to let Campbell know that his act of holding on to his Native American Indian roots and not covering it up with modern day personality just to suit his high echelon colleagues and. So that he will suit their taste for a particular company, his native Cheyenne are going out on a limb just to celebrate the victory of one of their most accomplished sons. For example, many Cheyenne individuals joined the parade. Some of them spent as much as they can spare just to lavish Campbell and the parade with the decorations fitting to the act of congratulations coming from the Cheyenne tribe. Some actually spent more than they could spare just so they can claim Campbell as their own and they can channelize how proud they are of Campbell. Six of the riders were Northern Cheyenne, who had bankrupted themselves to show the world that Campbell was one of their own . Despite his Indian American / Native American Indian roots, Campbell was a Catholic from the time his mother, also a devoted(p) catholic, had him baptized when he was still a baby by bringing him and his sister Alberta to a church to be baptized just close to the time Campbell was born, until the time when he seemed to have had a falling out with the Catholic faith. But Campbell, during his adult life and especially during his tenure as public office politician, drifted from religion, and proof of this is the item unspecified marked on the space allotted for the identification of religious affiliation of the individual. This distinction, again, made Senator Campbell someone who is different from the rest of the knit in the 10 6th Congress. He was the only one whose religious affiliation was unspecified, although there were no clear explanation(s) why such was the case it could be anyones guess, from clerical error, mistake, or other reasons . His sudden dissociation with the Catholic faith was a surprising turn of events for Campbell. There are many good things that the Catholic faith has do for Campbell, especially during his youth. For example, there is the role of the faith during the times they were sent to the orphanage by their parents because they cannot take care of him and his sister because of their mothers sickness and their fathers alcoholism and inability to financially support them. While the Catholic faith and the orphanage system had their share of bad reputation, history points how the Catholic experience was a relatively good one for Campbell. In retrospect, Campbell recalled how the nuns and priests, who took care of him when his parents were unable to take care of him, treated him we ll.In his recollection of his days with these priests and nuns, as he narrated it for his biography published in withstand form, he mentioned just several instances wherein he was punished like being sent inside a pig pen to be with a extensive pig. The reason for his pains against Catholicism maybe rooted in the things that he never verbalized, in the things which he only referred to as painful memories of his childhood, some of which he experienced in the orphanage . If he saw flaws in the orphanage, then it is not surprising if he also saw flaws in Catholicism because the twain are one and the same during his youth.

With all the men of the 918th Bomb Group loyal to Colonel Davenport, what steps does Gen frustrate take to not only win their committal but contact them an effective team up? While working on a project is a lot different than fighting a war, we see how good leadership techniques, trust, good communication, developing leaders, and instilling a mind of pride can turn around the poorest of teams. When Colonel Davenport received orders to push his men to the maximum potential, he wouldnt, for fear of burning them out. Major Stovall becomes a loyal hard working member of the 918th Bomb Group. He can see that Brigadier General Savage is committed to his job. A trust is strengthened between the two men. Trust is at the core of all meaningful relationships. Without trust there can be no giving, no bonding, no risk-taking (Berkun, 2008, p. 242). He then begins to talk to the other men and gather support and trust for Brigadier General Savage. The next item on Brigadier General Savages agenda is to develop leaders in the 918th Bomb Group. When Brigadier General Savage is reviewing everyones psychenel records henotices that the second in beef is underperforming. Lt Colonel Ben Gately is immediately fired from his position and place in charge of a plane full of underachievers. If Lt Colonel Gately wants to survive he needs to step up to the plate and become a good leader. The plane that Lt Colonel Gately is in charge of is called the Leper Colony. By doing this, Brigadier General Savage is giving Lt Colonel Gately a way to prove his leadership. This method of leadership works very well on Lt Colonel Gately, because he begins to perform exceptionally well. Lt Colonel Gately even flies with an injured spine.Brigadier General Savage can see the 918th Bomb Group is turning around into an effective unit. He then sets out to develop a sense of pride in the group. Savage praises them for their performance and what they have achieved as a group. He begins promoting excellence in everything they do. On days where there is no mission they practice to get it perfect. Individuals who show outstanding performance in the Leper Colony get promoted out and those who make mistakes move to the Leper Colony. Results from all their hard team work began to pay off. When the 918th Bomb Group goes on a dangerous mission they return with everyone. The whole unit is put in for a commendation. A Review On Internet Cafe Networks Information Technology Essay
A Review On Internet Cafe Net plant Information Technology EssayThis assignment is based on the meshing capital punishment of net coffee bar which is based near the campus of University of East London. We suck in to design and implement a network and describe the Local Area Network and gigantic Area Network management. We endure to describe the hail effectiveness solutions with software and hardware we engagement in this network with justifications. Different stages testament excessively be discussed at several(predicate) stages in this assignment. Different IP schemes and other network suggestions will be discussed. This assignment excessively embarrasss conclusion and references of the research apply to fabricate this assignment. Research method plays an important fibre in this assignment.Introduction to ARPANETAdvance Research Projects Agency Network (ARPANET) is the worlds first Network which gives Packet Switching and allows gateway over network widely. Packet switching helps in establishing a communication link. It was started in the mid 1968. It started through and through local area network.Phenomenon of Internet cafeWe have to work on network cafe project which is close to University of East London. This cafe is exists on three floors, and we have to come to or share 75 computers in cost effective solutions. These all computers should be registered with the ace IP address. OSI layers have to been defined at incompatible stages on the network. transmission control protocol/IP systems relate to local field of operation network and the internet. This network has to been defined using network layout diagram.Network Cost and specificationsThis project of internet cafe would require 75 computers, 1 router, 4 switches, LAN ph adept lines and 3 printers.A normal computer specification should be1 GB RAMAt least 2.1 GHZ abutor (Intel or Atom) maven hundred fifty GB hard disk17 DisplayStandard USB keyboardStandard USB mouseCD/DVD ROMThi s is normal system specifications which could be apply in internet cafe and can be slowly used by the customer. Normally when computers are purchased in bulk for a computer laboratory or internet cafe system, loyalty discount is normally given by that provider. This specification would estimate cost around 250 300 as agree to Currys or PC world. Dell computers are normally recommended and purchasing from DELL can be more cost effective.RouterWe also have to use a router. As this is internet cafe connection, so there should be powerful router connection which could enable more surfers to use internet more easily. in that respect is a router which has recently been launched (EDIMAX BR-6574n Wireless Gigabit Router) this is really power and is available at Currys store for 80. Apart from that, there are other NETGEAR routers as well which range starts from 30.SwitchesWe would also need at least 4 switches. Cisco switches are normally recommended by engineers. They are quite fast and comply with the requirement of network. It normally cost around 100. Some Belkin and Netgear switches are cheaper as well.LAN cableWe would need LAN cables to make connections overall on the network to connect computers with switches and router. RJ-45 connector cable is used for this purpose. A 50 meter Ethernet LAN cable costs about 5. The more length would be needed, more prices would be increased.PrintersWe can also add Printers to the network. It is essential in network computers to have a printer but it is not recommended or compulsory. Normally Printer ranges from 40 that is all in one, which is better for home and office purposes as it includes Printer, Scanner and Copier.Implementation of NetworkWe have to work on internet cafe. Cafe has 3 floors and we have pose 75 computers over three floors. We have to place 3 computers for server purpose. We can divide 25 computers on three floors and also 3 computers as server on third floor. To make a network local, we connect com puters first using switch. On first floor, we will place 25 computers, and we have connected these 25 computers using Fibre cable for LAN (Local Area Network). Also we need 3 printers to share on three floors and we connect 1 printer on each floor. We connect all 25 computers and 1 printer with switch. This process has to be repeated on three floors, and then we have to connect them with router. Server computers will be connected with router directly but through switch. When server is directly connected with router, it enables firewall implementation and sharing among the network with ripe authentication.LAN is used to connect computers within local area and make a network between them. We use this network in this case to connect computers within the same building. After connecting them through LAN cable, we connect them to Switch.HUB is also called concentrator or multi station access unit (MAU). A normal hub contains 8 to 24 ports for the computers and other devices. It works as a multiple port repeater. It receives a digital channelize and re amplifies or regenerates that signal. It then forwards the digital signal to all ports on the hub without looking at any data.Switch is also used for the same purpose as hub but it is more intelligent device. It operates at data link layer of OSI model. The biggest benefit of using switches instead of hubs is that each switch port has its own collision domain. Switch plays really an important role in network.Once they are connected with hub or switch, they will be connected with ROUTER.ROUTERROUTER is a device which connects multiple networks using similar or different protocols. It manages the route between any two communication networks.IP address will remain the same because there is just one router and it will depict access to all four switches. Each Switch which is having 25 computers and 1 printer on three floors and third one is also having server computers on it will connect with switch which will lead to ro uter. Each computer will have different IP but their ISP will be one only as this will be provided by service provider. After three sets of 75 computers and three printers connected with Switch which is connected to router, after this process we connect one more switch with router which has 3 server computers on it. One server would be file server or printer server, and one would be DHCP/Authentication/Certification server and DNS server. This server system would help in file or printer sharing along the network to cheer the computers with firewall option and also to provide certification to computers for different task over the network.OSIOSI stands for Open System Interconnection. It is a set of protocols that allows any two different systems to put across regardless of their underlying architectures. This physical connection of router with switch and computers comes in Physical Layer of OSI model.Physical layer relates the electrical, optical, mechanical and functional interface to the cable as it defines how the cable is attached to the network adaptor card.Connection of computers with Switch includes Data Link Layer of OSI model. It sends data frames from network later to physical layer.Router is supplying single IP address, and each computer has different IP address. This concept involves Network Layer of OSI model which is responsible for putting data segments into packets.Transport layer works after Network Layer which is responsible segmenting data. It ensures that packets are delivered free of errors with no loss. For implementation of Network especially of Internet cafe, some softwares have also been recommended. Cyber cafe management and installation of networking protocols like IPX, SPX and TCP/IP.This thing comes in Session Layer. The main purpose of session layer is to establish a connection through application running on two different computers.Presentation layer and Application layer are after session layer. Presentation layer is used to deter mine the format of exchanging the data among network. Application layer handles network access, control the flow and recover errors.Addressing SchemeAddressing scheme plays an important role in network. TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6 are essentials of Network scheme. They are normally set to default but they can be changed according to the requirements. Each network system must be identified as unique. This is done through MAC address of device. Each machine always has different IP address on the network.TCP/IP is known as transmission control protocol/Internet protocol. It is a technology that is used to manage the transmission of data by breaking it into packets. These packets jaunt through router. TCP/IP addressing scheme is used in implementation of this network. This network scheme is normally used for sharing of computers over the network and gives them internet access.IPv4 (Internet Protocol version 4) addressing scheme is really important in a network. The most important aspect of IPv4 is its size. It is most widely organized internet layer protocol. It is a connectionless protocol used for packet switching link layer. IPv4 can establish more than 256 connections. Its range starts from 0 255. This connection is really helpful in internet cafe setup. Normally IPv4 is set to default which detects IP automatically, but we can define IPv4 manually as well which can be allocated. manual of arms configuration can change IP of the system for some purposes as well.Sub-netting plays an important role in networking. It is a subdivision of an IP network or when the network is divided into several small networks. It results in logical division of an IP address. Subnetting an IP can be done for the various reasons which generally include different physical media, address space, security, control network traffic etc.Subnetting makes it easier to manage the smaller network as well. Subnet masks are also used with IP. data processor performs a bitwise logical AND operation betw een the address and subnet mask in order to find the Network Address or number. The general syntax for Subnetting is 255.255.255.0There are generally three classes used for Subnet masksClass A 255.0.0.0Class B 255.255.0.0Class C 255.255.255.0Calculations of Network SubnettingWe have to implement a network with single registered IP which is given by our service provider. 195.5.20.0This is known an IP address. The default subnet mask for this one would be 255.255.255.0We have to implement 4 networks and they should be provided with different IP addresses. We use the following steps to find out the network and host computers over the network and range as well195.5.20.0255.255.255.0We use 8 bits for binary written form.255.255.255.0 = 11111111.11111111.11111111.00000000This is default Subnet of networkWe have to implement four networks in a network, so we will do with 4 in binary2 42 2 01 04 Decimal = 100 binaryWe will take 3 bits as a result of binary conversion from bit scale. The bi t scale helps in implementing a network more easily128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1We will take 3 bits for new subnet mask and new Subnet mask will be11111111.11111111.11111111.11100000This will be equal to 255.255.255.224Our new IP range will be195.5.20.0 195.5.20.31195.5.20.32 195.5.20.63195.5.20.64 195.5.20.95195.5.20.96 195.5.20.127This is our range of new 4 Networks made by Single registered IP.Network Layout drawAnalysis and SynthesisThis research is a conceptual base in which most of the prediction has also been used apart from research on different structures and equipments used in this setup. A concept has been taken from http//www.ccautosoft.com/2011/03/connecting-all-hardwares-in-internet-cafe/ which shows the setup for the internet cafe. This is was quite helpful in equipment structure. This project has been designed to improve the performance of internet caf setup with compare to new technology as of library or lab network.ConclusionThis has been concluded from this project th at it is reliable and secure network. It can easily give access to all the computers equally. There is less risk of virus spreading over the network as secure switches have been used which gives the spunky profile for Firewall and other activities. This project uses the latest technology routers and switches which enables the network to communicate more effectively. Also this project is cost effective, and it allows less cost to be washed-out over the network. Computers have been used with moderate specifications which are compatible to run over network properly.
